Microsoft Outlook Express Set up

updated 21.12.05

As an adviser you will wish to send and receive e-mail via your dpbusiness.co.uk address,  so you will need to configure your e-mail software to do this.

You are given one POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3) account at dpbusiness.co.uk, this is where all e-mail sent to and by you will be located.

To set up your POP3 account you must follow exactly the procedures shown below.

The sure guarantee of a successful 1st time set up is just a matter of accurate keyboard entries.

Based on these guidance notes and the incorporation of your unique email information provided to you by Development Partners you can be nothing but successful in this set up.

These steps will not affect any existing email accounts which you may have.

We have used Microsoft Outlook Express for the purposes of this example.

Dare we say it again?... it's all a matter of accurate keyboard entries.

step 1 0f 10

Ok... First,  open Microsoft Outlook Express and

click on the Tools option from the menu bar.

Now click on the Accounts option within the Tools menu,

Outlook window

step 2 0f 10

On the next screen ensure that the 'Mail' tab is selected (2nd left - top of box)

and select Add, and then click 'Mail'

step 3 0f 10

you will be asked details about yourself.

Your name...

you should  know that already...(you'll get a clue from your passport) so enter it into the box...your name...not your passport

Once you have entered your name,  now click on the Next button...

step 4 0f 10

Your email address...

that is the one given you by Development Partners, not any of the pre-existing ones which you may have,

So now enter your @dpbusiness.co.uk email address into the box... just like the example, substituting your shortened name in place of 'johns'

please recheck you entry and ensure it perfectly matches that provided by Development Partners.

now click on the Next button...you will be presented with a screen for

step 5 0f 10

Setting up Outlook Express with your e-mail servers.

this bit looks technical but it isn't,  like everything else in this set up it's just a matter of accurate keyboard entries.

in case you missed the important bit there lets say it again...."a curate quayboard entrees"

Make sure "My incoming e-mail server is a" is set as  POP3 server or this set up will fail.

In the top box  above enter...

mail.dpbusiness.co.uk exactly as shown in the above example

in the bottom box, enter...

the email server address given you by your ISP
e.g. smtp.btinternet,com ,  smtp.wanadoo.co.uk  etc etc
be sure any enter YOUR ISP's info

please recheck you entries and ensure they perfectly match those provided in this example.

Now click on the Next button to take you to the

step 6 0f 10

Internet Mail Logon Screen

Here you should enter your email account name/username and password that was supplied to you by Development Partners. This is to authenticate your identity, so that you can receive your e-mails.

Make sure you type both your username and password correctly (including the case of the letters) as you will not be able to retrieve your e-mail otherwise.

So that's...

your new email address in the top box

and your password in the bottom box

tick the box "Remember password"

please recheck you entries and ensure they perfectly match those provided by Development Partners.

Now click the  Next button.

step 7 0f 10

step 11 0f 10 (this page was not written by our accountant)

That's it...Job Done

The Good News...You are now ready to send and receive e-mails.

The Bad News...If after following all of the above exactly, you can't...well... sorry.  you didn't...

so go back to the top of the page and this time... pay attention to those accurate keyboard entries.
